I work towards being an instructor and advisor that bridges student mentorship and rigorous scholarship to better serve academic and nonacademic communities of color. My experience as a first generation college student and as an ESL student shaped the research I pursue and courses I teach. As an instructor, I have always emphasized the importance of collaboration in my teaching and student mentoring. Currently, I am developing courses that teach students how to critically engage with media including film, television, music, and art.
